1. Inspirational Quotes

"Our subconscious minds have no sense of humour, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives." ~ Sidney Madwed

The problem isn’t that “All the world’s a stage”; the problem is that all the actors are amateurs without scripts.

You may not remember what you said to someone yesterday, but the one you said it to may remember it for a lifetime.

The persons that seem to be the strongest, are the ones who are most weak.
The persons that always defend others, are the ones who most need your help.
The persons that spend most their time visiting others, are the ones who most need your company.
The persons that spend most of the time helping others, are the ones who most need help.

When the door of happiness closes, another opens; but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one, which has been opened for us.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile. Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

You can steer yourself any direction you choose.

WHO WE REALLY ARE By Joseph J. Mazzella

I heard the sweetest, most beautiful, and most delightful sound the other day. It warmed my heart, brought a smile to my lips, and filled my soul with joy when I heard it. It was the glorious sound of children laughing, playing, running, and singing. It was beautiful music to my ears and a wonderful reminder of who we really are in this life.

All too often I think we forget who we really are in this life. We get so caught up in our struggles, conflicts, hatreds, judgments, and troubles that we stop seeing who we really are and why we are really here. We get so wrapped up in the pain, fear and darkness that are sometimes in this life that we forget the joy, love, and light that dwells within each of our hearts and souls.

Who are we really then? We are more than just these bodies that we walk around in. We are more than just these random thoughts that fill our minds. We are more than just the reactions and feelings that come upon us all day long. We are instead glorious creations of God capable of so much goodness, peace, and happiness. We are spreaders of delight to sad minds. We are sharers of joy to lonely hearts. We are givers of love to weakened souls. We are magical human beings creating smiles and laughter wherever we go. We are angels in disguise giving messages of God’s love to everyone in the world. We are beings of light casting out the darkness of the world with our bright, shining souls. We are Children of God letting His peace, love, and joy come through our every thought, feeling, and action. We are miracles of life and love making the world a better place just by being in it. We are wondrous souls living the way we were meant to live. We are all these things and even more. It is up to us, however, to remember who we really are and why we are really here. It is up to us to be what God always meant for us to be.

NEW AGE OVERLOAD

I was having an out of body experience one day so I grounded myself and got centred with the help of my spirit guides and almost astral travelled anyway, but the phone rang. I sensed the negative vibrations so I threw the I-Ching and checked my numerology chart and nearly had a primal, but my energy was too blocked, so I did some bioenergetics and self parenting, took some flower essence and ate an organic oat bran ginseng muffin, but my inner child wasn't feeling nurtured yet so I had a Rice Dream Frozen Pie too, but that made me  hyper so I did the relaxation response while listening to my subliminal tapes, but I was feeling depersonalized so I did some polarity work, foot reflexology and past life regression, then rebirthed myself and called Moon Beam, the body worker, to make an appointment for a Shiatsu, Reike, Rolfing, Feldenkreis, Swedish, Japanese deep tissue massage, but she flaked out and never returned my call, so I decided to energize my crystals and do some positive  imagery because all my visualization techniques and affirmations made my space feel invaded, so to get empowered, I got a psychic reading from Mother HeartLove around the issue of my assertiveness so I could feel my radiance and have some energy for my psycho-callisthenics and inversion swing before my  harmonic brain-wave synergy session, which made me more focused for my actualization seminar, holistic healing class and dream workshop, so I'd be more clear  for my Gestalt behavioural cognitive transpersonal Rechian Jungian Freudian Ericksonian session at the hot springs but my aura was weak for my trance-  channelling group so I fasted until noon to recharge my  chakras and I sensed my intuition was high and my cycle was focused, so I turned on my ion generator to  open up for my neural-linguistic programming session,  but I needed to have my pyramid recharged before my  guided synchronicity meditation, so I got some cranio-sacral therapy, which aligned me for the fire walk, which was between my tarot card reading and my sensory deprivation tank appointment, but after all that I felt what I truly needed was a meaningful relationship to mirror myself so I went t my personal shaman, and then to my guru, but they were no help, so instead I went to the Intensive Whole Life Earth Rebirth Cosmic Expo Symposium Workshop to find someone who really knew what was going on, but that didn't work either, so I locked myself in a calcium coated  Orgone Box and went to sleep so I could "get it" in  the dream state.

Hair Growing Soup

According to Helen Lee in her book "The Tao of Beauty," you can eat your way to great hair.

Her Black Sesame Seed Soup can be eaten as a snack or even for dessert and supposedly provides skin and hair benefits. Helen Lee says the ingredients should be purchased fresh from your nearest Chinese grocer.

1 cup of uncooked long-grain white rice

1 cup of black sesame seeds

1 tablespoon of sugar, or to your own tastes

Wash and drain the rice and the sesame seeds in separate containers. Stir-fry the sesames seeds in a dry skillet over low heat for approximately 5 minutes or until the heat releases their fragrance. Be careful to not let them burn.

Grind the rice and toasted seeds with 1/4 cup of water in a blender or food processor.  Pour the mixture plus an additional 1 3/4 cups of water into a medium-sized saucepan. Cook over medium heat for approximately 10 minutes, stirring often to avoid burning. Add sugar as desired to taste.

Hair Growing Soups notwithstanding, if you're having hair loss problems and also drinking distilled water, there may be a connection between the two. Details at:

4. Wild Trivia

ABOUT GETTING OLDER

First, eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second, the older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third, some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've travelled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth, when you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to your youth, think of Algebra.

Fifth, you know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth, I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh, one of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth, one must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth, long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And finally, if you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you're old.

From The Timothy Report, Swan Lake Communications.

Stay Bright Eyed

Did you know parsley water is recommended for eliminating sties and general puffiness around the eyes?

The trick is to place a handful of fresh parsley in s soup bowl, then pour a coup of boiling water over the parsley and let it steep for 10 minutes.

After soaking a washcloth in the water, lie down and place the washcloth over your troubled eyes. Leave it on your closed lids while you relax for 10 minutes.

Do this in the morning and repeat the procedure just before bedtime.

 Home Remedies that Always Work

This Little Piggy

Health Sciences Institute e-Alert

Are you one of the millions of people who suffer from onychomycosis? That's pronounced: onako-my-kosis. And if it doesn't have a catchy ring to it, it's far more appealing than calling it what it really is: toenail fungus.

Not pretty, but what can you do? This common problem affects more than 12 million Americans. And many HSI members too, judging from the numerous postings on the HSI Forum that have addressed this annoying health problem.

Recently, a member named Bill posted this typical question: "Does anyone know of a non-prescription way to clear up toenail fungus?"

The key phrase here is "non-prescription," because one of the ironies of this condition is that it's not harmful to your overall health, but the drugs used to address it definitely can be. You may have seen the TV commercial for a toenail fungus medication in which a cartoon fungus spore lifts up a toenail and burrows in under the nail where he and his fungus friends wreak havoc. It's an uncomfortable image, but that's about how it works. When your bare feet are exposed to damp conditions in public areas - such as locker rooms or swimming pools - a fungus called trichophyton rubrum can slip in under a toenail and begin growing. Damaged nails are most susceptible, and people who have immune system disorders, diabetes or a history of athlete's foot are particularly vulnerable.

Toenail fungus can be unsightly, but it doesn't hurt, and except for extreme cases it doesn't create any health problems. But once a nail is infected, the fungus can spread to other nails, including fingernails, so it's a good idea to treat it early, before it grows out of control.

Some of those toenail fungus commercials will lead you to believe that medication is the only way to treat the problem, but don't you believe it. And, as I said above, the side effects for those medications are far worse than the fungus. They include headaches, nausea, rashes and even blood disorders. Liver damage is also enough of a danger that patients taking these drugs need to have their liver function tested during the medication period, which can take up to a year or more. That's because toenails only grow a couple of millimetres each month, and the healing progresses at the same slow speed - whether you use a prescription or natural methods.

One of the most common natural treatments for toenail fungus is tea tree oil, which is discussed at length on the HSI Forum. A member named Lynn says that after trimming her nail back (easy to do when it's in a deteriorating condition), she used a soft toothbrush to apply the oil twice each day. This process took nine months, but the nail eventually grew in just fine.

Lynn might have helped her cause by taking one additional step. Some of the safe treatments for toenail fungus recommended by Jonathan V. Wright, M.D. Because it's sometimes hard to get natural anti-fungals (such as tea tree oil and oregano oil) under the nail in sufficient concentration, Dr. Wright suggests applying DMSO, a natural solvent available at many natural food stores. DMSO carries the natural anti-fungal solutions right through the nail where they can start to work against the fungus. Also note that oregano oil appears to be the most effective natural anti-fungal, but cautions that it's very strong. If it irritates surrounding skin, it can be diluted with a little olive oil to reduce potency.

Another recommendation is the good old fashioned topical antibiotic iodine for toenail fungus, specifically potassium iodide (SSKI)." Dr. Wright has written many times about how SSKI can inhibit or kill bacteria, viruses and fungi, and he highly recommends it in combination with DMSO for treating toenail fungus.

But SSKI use comes with a couple of warnings. Very few people are allergic to iodine, but those who are should avoid its use in any form, including SSKI. Iodine can also suppress thyroid function when taken for long periods of time. So to be on the safe side, consult with your doctor or a naturopathic healthcare professional before using SSKI. Those with thyroid conditions need to take special care in monitoring thyroid function while using this treatment.

And then there's the sock problem. If you apply SSKI to your toes and then put on socks, the iodine may stain the fabric with an orangey-brown colour. So if the appearance of your socks is a concern, take care to reduce contact with toes that are freshly treated with SSKI.

SSKI sometimes requires a prescription, but may be available without one in some compounding pharmacies and health food stores.

There are a couple of things you can do to help prevent onychomycosis from ever getting started. If your feet are regularly exposed to damp conditions, avoid using nail polish, which can help trap moisture beneath the nails. Keeping your feet clean and dry also helps, as does changing your socks or hosiery daily.

And by all means, at the first sign of toenail discoloration, flaking or deterioration, begin treatment immediately and you may avoid spending the next year with your feet smelling like oregano.

Understanding the mystery of Hiccups.

Hiccups are those irritating little contractions of your abdominal muscles. The muscles are trying to crush some unwelcome air bubbles that invaded your stomach. Think about it, they always occur after you haven't eaten for a while, your mouth is watering, so you grab a bite of food, then unfortunately you begin to hiccup. Some people are lucky they can just belch. How can you help your belly muscles destroy those pesky air bubble invaders? Well, here is all you have to do: Place one or two teaspoons of plain sugar in your mouth, swallowing as the sugar dissolves, a sip or two of water is permissible only after you have swallowed the dissolved sugar. In less than two or three minutes, your belly muscles will win the battle, no more hiccups, and please begin eating on a regular schedule. CAUTION: If your physician has told you to stay away from sugar, then do not use this hiccup curing process. This is only for those hiccupped who can tolerate the consumption of sugar.

The Healing Power of Honey

By Elizabeth Cole, author of 101 Things To Do With Honey!

at http://snurl.com/1upo

Apitherapy, the treatment of various conditions using honeybee products, has been around a long time. Honey is one of the oldest medicines we have, with proof of its healing power dating back more than 5000 years. Even Hippocrates found that honey "cleans sores and ulcers of the lips, heals carbuncles and running sores."

It has been a staple ingredient of folk medicines throughout the ages and now, it is even gaining credibility with current medical and scientific communities. British researchers have proven that applying raw honey to fresh wounds prevents infection as well as any medication and often eliminates the need for antibiotics. They have also learned that honey-treated cuts and scrapes heal quicker than those treated with medicated ointments.

Other researchers have found that honey can alleviate asthma, calm nerves and induce sleep, ease pain and relieve diarrhoea.

Raw honey can be a valuable part of your "First Aid Kit," here's a few suggestions:

Bee Stings: Dab on a bit of honey immediately. It helps draw the stinger out, eases the pain and neutralizes poisons.

Blisters: Combine 1 tsp. honey, 1 tsp. Aloe Vera gel and

10 drops lavender oil. Dab on blister, cover with bandage. Change bandage and repeat 2 to 3 times per day.

Burns: Immediately spread a thin layer of raw honey over the burn. Especially good for oil splatter type burns and steam burns, but of benefit to all types of burns. It relieves stinging, prevents blisters and infection, and speeds healing.

Sunburn: Combine 1 cup apple cider vinegar, 1/4 cup honey and 1/4 cup Aloe Vera gel. Paint onto sunburned skin with pastry brush or damp sponge.

Wounds: The high levels of potassium found in honey make it very difficult, if not impossible, for bacteria to survive. Applying a thin layer of raw honey to any cut, scrape or scratch is beneficial.

Beyond treating injury and illness, there are other reasons to pay attention to honey. Incorporating it into your daily diet is an excellent step to take towards maintaining general good health.

Dr. D.C. Jarvis says "I am saddened when people tell me that they don't eat honey because costs more than white sugar. In the long run, you must pay either the grocer or the druggist."

Honey can be substituted for white sugar very easily, even in baking, and the health benefits for everyone but especially for children are worth every penny.

Teach Him Gently

World, my young son starts school tomorrow. It's all going to be strange and new   to   him for a while...and I wish you would sort of treat him gently.   It is an adventure that will probably include wars, tragedy and sorrow. The world that he will live in requires faith, love and courage.

So world, I wish that you would sort of take him by his young hand and teach him the things that he will have to know.

Teach him, but gently if you can. I know, he will have to learn that all men are not just, that all men are not true. But teach him that for every scoundrel there is a hero that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader. Teach him that for every enemy, there is a friend.

It will take time World I know, but teach him, if you can to learn to lose and to enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if you can and teach him the secret of quiet laughter. Let him learn that the bullies are the easiest people to lick. Teach him, if you can the wonder of books. But also give him the quiet time to ponder the eternal mystery of the birds in the sky bees in the sun and the flowers on the hillside.

In school, world teach him it is far more honourable to fail, than to cheat. Teach him to have faith in his own ideas even when everyone tells him that they are wrong. Teach him to be gentle with gentle people and tough with tough people.

Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone else is getting on the bandwagon. Teach him to listen to all men but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through.

Teach him, if you can how to laugh when he is sad. Teach him there is no shame in tears. Teach him, there can be glory in failure, and despair in success. Teach him to scoff at cynics, and to be aware of too much sweetness. Teach him to sell his brawn and brains to the highest bidder. But, never put a price tag on his heart and soul. Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob and to stand and figure, if he thinks that he is right. Treat him gently, World, but don't coddle him because only the test of fire makes fine steel.

Let him have courage to be impatient let him have the patience to be brave. Teach him to always have faith in himself. Because, then he may always have faith in mankind.

This is a big order, World but see what you can do. He is such a fine little fellow...

6. Ken Warren Build your self-worth

Self-esteem is something that affects every area of our life – our relationships, our sense of who we are and our well-being, says counsellor, Elaine Davis. “Self-esteem also affects our physical and mental health and our performance in the workplace. People often struggle with their self-worth due to not having challenged faulty beliefs about themselves that may have arisen in childhood. Perhaps they have had negative life experiences such as the death of a parent in childhood, parental separation, chronic illness, or other setbacks such as relationship breakdown, losing a job or losing money.

It is possible to rebuild your self-worth, even if it has taken serious blows", Ms Davis said. “The first step is to challenge our beliefs and test them against logic. Some might be worth holding onto, whereas others may need to be discarded. It is also important to accept what we cannot change, but take responsibility for the things we can. For example, some people may carry regrets or grudges over what has happened to them or decisions they made in the past. Unfortunately, this only makes us unhappy and often unhealthy. We are better to accept the fact that the past cannot be changed no matter how much we dwell on it. We need to learn from it and focus our attention and efforts on the present and future.

It is also important that we develop a healthy love and self-care for ourselves. This can be done through simple actions like taking time out for rest and recreation, giving ourselves treats perhaps through walking on the beach, being around positive people, caring for our appearance, and finding a balance between our needs and the needs of others.

People often fear developing their self-worth as this involves change. In such situations, a type of learned helplessness may have developed, where it is easier to rely on others for making us feel better rather than doing something to help ourselves. Some people rationalise such feelings believing that that is just the way they are made. But we can make a difference and it can also help if we surround ourselves with people who are supportive of such changes”.

What do you use to cut the sea? A Sea-saw!!!

One day my young daughter and I were listening to one of my old Simon and Garfunkel albums. When one particular song was finished, she asked me, "Well, did he?"

"Did he what?"

"Did Parsley save Rosemary in time?"

A gentleman was moving from one house to another, a couple streets away.  Observing the care-free way in which the moving crew yanked his furniture about, he decided to move his prized grandfather's clock himself.

Taking the antique in his arms he started for the new house. But the clock was almost as tall as its owner, and he had to put it down every few feet and rest his arms.

After half an hour of these exertions he was just about there, when one of the locals happened to walk out of the corner bar. Watching the man with the clock for a few moments he walked up to him and said in an unsteady voice, "Mister, can I ask you a question?"

"What is it?" demanded the man.

"Why on earth don't you carry a watch?"

Aging

    Reporters interviewing a 104 year-old woman:

"And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?" the reporter asked.

She simply replied, "No peer pressure."

The nice thing about being senile is you can hide your own Easter eggs.

Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, "How old was your husband?"

"98," she replied. "Two years older than me."

"So you're 96," the undertaker commented.

She responded, "Hardly worth going home is it?"

I've sure gotten old. I've had 2 By-pass surgeries. A hip replacement, new knees. Fought prostate cancer, and diabetes.  I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation,  hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends.

But..... Thank God, I still have my driver's license!

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,

The good fortune to run into the ones I do,

And the eyesight to tell the difference.

WAYS to MAKE ROOM for JOY in the

LIFE YOU'RE ALREADY LIVING

Within our everyday lives we can experience JOY on a daily basis.  But not if we strive for joy through the acquisition of material things, fancy titles, or "free" time. Striving in these ways drives joy away as surely as squeezing a handful of water leaves us empty-handed. To find more joy in our daily lives we have to make room for joy!

1. Give yourself a "Placelift."

Let go of things that bind you to them, that conjure up negative experiences, or that remind you of the ways you aren't.  Retain and spread around you a few things that hold positive memories, are inspiring or restful. Then you are free to experience the joyous freedom of nourishing memories and pleasing surroundings.

2. Practice the greatest gift of all - Forgiveness.

By living lives of conscious self-acceptance and learning to forgive ourselves we become more able to forgive others. By learning to forgive others, we give ourselves the gift of freedom from the past. Forgiveness loosens the debilitating constraints of anger, resentment, cynicism and despair and frees our hearts to swell with joy.

3. Take time to be present.

Sweep away the busyness and mental chatter of lives lived in the possible future or buried past. When we second-guess what we "should have done" or anticipate what we are going to do, we become oblivious to the magic in the moment we are living. By learning to be present in the current moment we open to the treasures that it offers.

4. Walk with an Appreciative Heart.

We dance with joy when counting our blessings - those that float unnoticed in our existing lives and those that cascade in unexpectedly. It's nearly impossible to be gloomy when acknowledging the gifts that are present in our lives.

5. Face each day with a CAN DO attitude.

When we let go of self-limiting beliefs, we invite ourselves to learn new things or tackle seemingly difficult challenges. We then experience the joyfulness of self-discovery and accomplishment.

6. Probe the paradoxical power of Surrender.

Worry serves as a signal that we must tend to something, but when we have done all that can be done for the moment, it's time to let go of worry and surrender to the joyous support of people and possibilities. When intense emotions call - whether delight or fear, love or grief - surrender to them AND to the next emotion that calls. Don't hold on!

7. Surprise your life.

Waken your five senses, practice harmless and minor outrages and seek a larger freedom in your life. In surprises come the joys of feeling truly alive.

8. Cultivate Beauty.

Create beauty through your everyday activities and celebrate beauty in your everyday surroundings.

9. Embrace Laughter!

Laughter enhances our physical well-being and our spirit and, as Marilyn Fergusan notes, “At the height of laughter the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities."

10. Give yourself simple extravagances and healthy indulgences.

Garnish your life with little pleasures that don't destroy your bank account...or your health.

10.      On a Personal Note.

Hi to all,

Well it has been a pretty busy time lately.

I have just passed my exam to become a Myers Briggs Type Identifier. I have really enjoyed doing this study and know that it will improve my therapy skills and help give my clients better insight and acceptance of themselves. It was a bit of a challenge for me, the concept of statistics is not in the realm of what I would normally study but a necessary component of this training, I must say I am very glad that module is over.

Paul, our son, is now a tram (light rail driver), and loving it. He has deferred from his other studies and just focused on this for a semester, and now I am so clever at the Myers Briggs stuff, I can really understand him so much better. (I do wonder now how he has survived me all these years!!) We have very different types within us.

The Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists is having their biannual Convention shortly, as I am on the committee for that, I can now really appreciate the work that goes into getting a convention together. It appears to me there are a lot of people that work behind the scenes in lots of organisations for the sheer joy of community benefit.

On another topic, I have just found out that I can be used for some people on workers compensation, so if you know of anybody who could benefit from my type of therapy in that situation please let them know.

I can feel the weather on the turn; spring is in the air - A period of regrowth and a feeling of coming alive.

Thank you to the people who make this newsletter possible, the contributors and especially to those of you who send me their encouraging comments, it really makes a difference to me,

Love to all

Lyndall
